Stan Davis: Music

This Time of Year

(Stan Davis & Friends - lead vocal: Timothy Kyle)
music & lyrics by Stan Davis
This song premiered in the 2005 production of the musical, "The Witch and the Rabbit King". Entitled "Springtime is Here", it was written to replace the song from the original 1993 production. Thinking it would make a nice Christmas tune, I changed the title and lyrics accordingly in 2009.
Bright lights are glowing
Outside, it's snowing
People are showing thoughtfulness
Kind hearted acts and good will abound
And all around is happiness

Lights shine and shimmer
And the spirit in our hearts delight
'Though days grow dimmer
Friendly faces make them bright
Despite the cold of the old winter's drear
Good times are here this time of year

Choirs are singing
Church bells are ringing
Clanging and clinging songs so sweet
As twinkling lights shine on every street
There're smiles from everyone you meet

Lights shine and shimmer
And the spirit in our hearts delight
'Though days grow dimmer
Friendly faces make them bright
Despite the cold of the old winter's drear
Good times are here this time of year

Let's all rejoice (rejoice, rejoice, rejoice)
Sing out with one voice
Let's make the choice to live in harmony
For we are free (yes, we are free - we're free)
To sing out with glee so merrily
Enjoying each festivity

Lights shine and shimmer
And the spirit in our hearts delight
'Though days grow dimmer
Friendly faces make them bright
Despite the cold of the old winter's drear
This seasonal decorous
Brings much rejoicing for us
Good times are here this time of year
