Stan Davis: Music

10 I Had to Try

words & music by Stan Davis
I’D JUST LEFT HOME, I WAS ON MY OWN
ON THE RIDGE AT RAINBOW HILL
THE SUN RISE ROSE, AND I SUPPOSE
I WAS FILLED WITH PEACE UNTIL…

A BRILLIANT FLASH
FLEW BY FROM THE SKY
I SAW IT CRASH
AND I KNEW A SOUL HAD DIED
I ALSO FELT
A SINGLE ANQUISHED CRY
IF I COULD HELP
I HAD TO TRY

THE SHIP EMBEDDED IN THE GROUND
BARELY FIFTY FEET AWAY
I SOMEWHAT DREADED CLIMBING DOWN
BUT HELD MY BREATH AND PRAYED….

I WATCHED THE HATCH
SLOWLY OPEN WIDE
AND GAVE A GASP
WHEN I SAW A FACE INSIDE
THE FACE SHOWED FEAR
BUT TRUST WAS IN HIS EYES
MY CHOICE WAS CLEAR
I HAD TO TRY

I MADE A VOW, NOT KNOWING HOW
BUT KNOWING THAT I MUST
HELP GRATEFULLY FOR GIVING ME HIS TRUST

I WAS SENSING PEACE FROM THE DECEASED
FEELING TRANQUIL AND SERENE
FILLED WITH LOVE, I WAS CERTAIN OF
A LIFE FORCE UNFORESEEN….

AND AS I STOOD
IN THE MORNING SUN
I UNDERSTOOD
AT OUR ESSENCE, WE ARE ONE
MY HEART RELEASED
UNDERSTANDING WHY
PROMOTING PEACE
I HAVE TO TRY
