Stan Davis: Music

It Won't Seem Like Christmas Without You

(Stan Davis & Friends - lead vocal: Timothy Kyle)
music & lyrics by Stan Davis
This was the last song I wrote for this project - finishing off the lyrics on a hot summer day on the patio with a thesaurus, a note pad and a cool beverage.
The season's looking gloomy
The lights have lost their glow
Guess I'll go outside and shovel snow
No one to listen to me
Or to greet me with "hello"
I wish somehow you were here now
To cheer my weary woe

You know it won't seem like Christmas without you
Instead of merry and bright, I'll be blue
How somber it will be
Around the Christmas tree
What good is mistletoe when
There's no one here but me?
Oh no, it won't seem like Christmas without you
Revering all of the good times we've known
Each faded memory
Brings a tear of joy to me
As I spend my Christmas alone

I hung a single stocking
By the fireplace with care
Instead of one, I wish it was a pair
I thought I heard you talking
When I looked, no one was there
Since you've been gone, I carry on
In spite of my despair

You know it won't seem like Christmas without you
Instead of merry and bright, I'll be blue
How somber it will be
Around the Christmas tree
What good is mistletoe when
There's no one here but me?
Oh no, it won't seem like Christmas without you
Revering all of the good times we've known
Each faded memory
Brings a tear of joy to me
As I spend my Christmas alone
I'm spending my Christmas alone
